Into The Forest

I woke up this morning with an urgency to get into the forest and witness Autumn before the next deluge of rain and wind stripped the trees of their golden treasure. So to the woods I headed and enjoyed a fantastic day of walking and breathing in the seasonal scented air in Cropton Forest. The day remained dry but earlier rain brought out the contrasts in colours against wet darkened wood. It was beautiful and the paths we trod were free of any other inhabitants.

Walk This Way - Beverley Art Gallery

After a wonderful year of creativity with nature I have started to reflect on some of the highlights. The year started with a fantastic opportunity exhibiting at Beverley art gallery with a body of work which was the culmination of three years as Artist in Residence for the Yorkshire Wolds Way - a celbration of the 40th Anniversary of the National Trail. Here are some of the pieces shown.

After walking the entirety of the trail many stages were revisited to gather plant from along the walk. Documenting in plants and print the flora of this beautiful walk recorded in prints and artists books

Simple Things

Recently I have been enjoying making these single stem wildflower prints from a beautiful collection of plants picked from my wild garden last year. They have been resting in flowerpresses until this time

 Winter Goosegrass

The sun came out today highlighting the lasting signs of winter. Hedgerows are slowly showing tiny green buds and violets giving way to snowdrops at their base. Dried and weathered goosegrass still clings mapping out the flow of the wind on hawthorn and fence posts.

Nature, ink and chance - some wintery tangles printed on Fabriano, Hoshi and Newsprint papers 50x70cm

Made in a Day

I had such fun today at where I was the 'Made in a day ' event at Art& York - caught here printing from nature to make a long scroll book of leaves - some of the parts can be seen drying behind me. A big thanks you to Victoria and the team for inviting me to do this and all you lovely people who stopped by, showed interest, had a chat and really engaged with what I was doing - it means a lot!
