Enjoyed a bit of early morning finishing off prints today before heading off to Staithes Studios Gallery - these are printed with Fumitory, Angelica & cliff top grasses from along the Cleveland Way - this series is slowly finding its way into my online shop and I am busy making more Staithes based plant prints for the Staithes Festival of Arts & Heritage that is happening 8th, 9th & 10th Sept

Plant Studio

Some days I am in a print studio, some days a painting studio, today I am in a plant studio - opening up flower presses and re-familiarising myself with the wonderful treasures they hold. These beautiful gatherings came as a surprise gift from a lovely friend and will be used in a new series of nature mono prints 'Gifts from a Country Garden' - destined for Handmade in Britain at Kew in October where I will be taking my Field and Hedgerow range of prints and artists books.

Research and Gathering

Throughout this year and next I will be documenting the grounds and gardens of Scampston Hall using nature mono print.The finished pieces will be exhibited there later next year. With beautiful Capability Brown designed grounds and stunning gardens by Piet Oudolf this place really is a treasure of contrasts, calm and colour. Though nearly midsummer it was more overcast today but this made it perfect for picking and pressing the plants before they wilted. Having been given permission to pick and collect whatever I want I had the most blissful time! Alongside gathering plants to print from I take many photos to record colour and some of the plants that are just too tricky to print from! 

Summer Workshop

Enjoyed delivering a printing from nature workshop today in the beautiful village of Lockton. We walked and picked and made a variety of super prints, book covers and pages. 

North Yorkshire Open Studios

Over the last 2 weekends 3/4 & 10/11 June a well as exhibiting as usual in Staithes Studios Gallery I have also had my studio open to the public as part of NYOS. A big thank you to everyone who has popped along so far - today is the last day!  See where it all happens at Sunnyside, High Barrass Staithes, TS13 5DE - Open 10.30 - 5.30.
