Planning and Picking

Over the next couple of years I have a few ongoing slow durational projects that involve documenting by printing with plants some rather wonderful gardens. Today I met up with Izzy at Scampston Hall to discuss the timings of an exhibition there in 2018 that will show a record in mono nature print the gardens at Scampston throughout the seasons. Most importantly in order for this to happen I met Paul the gardener who gave me access to pick away! Spent a delightful afternoon being shown around the gardens and then set loose to pick and gather - bliss.

Printing

A couple of months ago I had the opportunity to visit and deliver a workshop in stunningly beautiful meadows at Lower Winskill near Settle in the Yorkshire Dales. The meadows at Lower Winskill are a nationally rare habitat, rich in wild flowers and insects, especially butterflies and bumblebees. The hay meadows are recorded in late sixteenth century documents when they belonged to three smaller farms. After the workshop I spent a lovely couple of hours wandering alone, picking and gathering beautiful plants. It was such a delight to work with some of these pickings  yesterday - hope you like what I have done with them.

RHS Harlow Carr Replenishing, Watching, Gathering

After great sales during the first week of the current show at The Bath House Harlow Carr I popped over with new work to replenish my part of the exhibition. This gave me a chance to see the show for the first time which includes fabulous work by Corinne Young, Shirley Vauvelle and Lesley Seeger, all presented beautifully by the Just Makers team at The Bath House. 

I didn't get a chance to walk around the gardens but did enjoy walking in the nearby woods, squirrel watching and gathering fallen rhododendron petals which are sure to pop up in future prints.
